UFC 241: Cormier vs. Miocic 2 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that is planned to take place on August 17, 2019 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, United States.
It’s official. Stipe Miocic will get the chance to win back the UFC heavyweight title in August when he faces current champion Daniel Cormier in a rematch of their July 2018 matchup. The UFC announced on Saturday that the contest will headline UFC 241, which takes place August 17 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
In their first meeting, which headlined UFC 226, Cormier, who was the light heavyweight champion at the time, moved up to heavyweight to challenge Miocic. In January, Miocic had become the first heavyweight in UFC history to successfully defend the title three consecutive times when he scored a decision over Francis Ngannou. Miocic’s streak of successful title defenses ended at the 4:33 mark of the first round when Cormier scored a knockout victory.
The UFC 241 event is putting its best foot forward with three huge matchups.
On the poster for the Aug. 17 show that takes place at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., the heavyweight championship rematch between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic loom large while stars Anthony Pettis, Paulo Costa stand tall beneath them.
A UFC Heavyweight Championship rematch between current champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Stipe Miocic is expected to serve as the event's headliner. A middleweight bout between former interim UFC Middleweight Championship challenger (as well as 2000 Olympic silver medalist and former world champion in freestyle wrestling) Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa has been scheduled for the event. The pairing was previously scheduled to take place at UFC 230, at UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw and again at UFC Fight Night: Jacaré vs. Hermansson but was scrapped each time for various reasons.
